Setting up DigiTV for TopUp TV Reception
|
From DigiTV application v3.5, native support for the SECA 2 encryption system (TopUpTV et al) has been added. This means that you can now watch and record Topup TV programmes from within the DigiTV application.
In terms of hardware, you will need a valid Topup TV smartcard, plus a smartcard reader that supports the Phoenix interface. Either a COM port device or USB device that emulates a COM port should suffice (currently retailing for between £20 and £30 in the UK).
| 1 |
Make sure you have DigiTV v3.5.20 or greater installed. |
| 2 |
Install the smartcard reader and make a note of the COM port on which the driver has placed it. |
| 3 |
Make sure your smartcard reader is correctly installed and connected, and insert your TopupTV smartcard. |
| 4 |
Start DigiTV and right-click in the Window to bring up the context menu. Click on Settings. |
| 5 |
Select the 'Conditional Access' page and set the COM port option to the port on which your smartcard reader was installed. |
| 6 |
Select the the 'In-built DigiTV CAM' option. Your Smartcard details should now be shown. |
| 7 |
Close down the settings dialog box by hitting the 'Ok' button. |
Now change to a Topup TV channel. If everything has gone according to plan, you should be able to watch the channel.
Note that you only need to perform these steps once as the changes will be stored ready for the next time you run DigiTV.
