Cannot Attach to Display Surface Message

When DigiTV starts up you may get the following Overlay message displayed:

The cause is to do with your graphics card not being able to display video overlays at the current screen resolution and refresh rate.

To solve the problem you can:

Check that no other programs are running that use the hardware overlays (for video output). Netmeeting is a common one.

Change the overlay mode that DigiTV uses from the Video tab on the Settings menu

Drop the screen resolution to a lower value by right-clicking in your desktop, select Properties, select the Settings tab and alter the Screen Area setting, or

Drop the screen refresh rate to a lower value by right-clicking in your desktop, select Properties, select the Settings tab, click the Advanced button, select the Monitor tab and alter the Refresh Frequency setting.

If neither of these solutions work then it is unlikely that your Graphics Card/Driver supports the required video modes.

Try visiting your card manufacturer's web-site to see if they supply an updated driver that allows your card to support overlays.

Unfortunately, usually the only solution is to purchase a more modern graphics card.
