The Media Player Settings Tab

Version 2.1 of the DigiTV application saw the inclusion of a much improved media player interface, and with it has come the ability to set a few options. You might want to refer back to the description of the Media Player to understand exactly what the settings do.

Version 3.0 extends this still further by adding the ability to playback individual programmes from a recorded Transport Stream.

Allow the Message Text to Scroll

This option controls the top line of text on the message window. You can choose to have it static (ie not scrolling) where only the channel number and name will be displayed, or you can ask it to scroll so that much more information can be conveyed such as the programme description.

Channel Name

Choosing this option allows the channel name to be displayed in the message bar along with the channel number and programme description.

Programme Name

Choosing this option allows the current programme name to be displayed in the message bar along with the channel number and programme description.

Show Media Player Window

You never know, you might want to have the media player window visible as soon as DigiTV starts up. Actually this can prove quite useful since all of the common controls (including the teletext buttons) are provided in one easily accessible window.

Skip forward and back time control

The media player window provides two user-programmable controls that let you specify exactly how far to jump through a recorded programme when they're pressed during playback.

You might find it useful to have them set to different values so that you can skip forward a couple of minutes to avoid adverts, and then skip back a few seconds at a time to fine tune the point at which you start watching the programme again.

As well as relative times, there is an entry to select tenths so that skipping will default to one of ten equally spaced pre-set points throughout the playback

Start playing immediately after searching

Setting this option will cause playback to resume immediately after skipping to another position in the playback. If this option is not checked, playback will pause at the new position.

Pause playback when not viewing

In v3.5 you can now simultaneously record one/several programs while watching a recording that has either already been recorded or is currently being recorded. We have therefore made it easy to switch between tasks using the new Activity options, so that you can easily pause watching the playback device to enable you to check what is currently happening on a live channel/recording.

This option has therefore been added to allow you to choose whether or not DigiTV should automatically pause your playback device whenever you switch from it to another physical or virtual tuner.

Default REW/FF speed

Use these options to specify the default speed you prefer fast forward / rewind to start at when you activate them.
