The General Settings Tab - General

Country

Select the country in which you are viewing DigiTV. This setting will alter the way DigiTV performs its AutoTune function to best suit the range and frequency of broadcasts in that part of the world. It will also allow DigiTV to download the relevant Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) if the country is one of those supported.

EPG Language

Depending on where you are in the UK (or indeed Europe), the audio accompanying digital TV programmes may be transmitted in more than one language. EPG listings can also be transmitted in several languages and therefore please ensure this option is set to the default language you would like to hear/read.

In Wales for example, certain programmes are broadcast in both English and Welsh. By default, DigiTV will use the English version of the soundtrack, but you can configure it to your own preference.

If you choose Welsh as your preferred language, DigiTV will attempt to find a Welsh soundtrack for the programme you are watching. If one cannot be found, then it will use the next closest version (usually English).

Display Language

Use this option you select the display language you would like DigiTV to use when showing you on screen prompts or options. We are working to offer as many language options as possible and currently the software features English, French, and German language support.

Allow Media Player Controls

If this option is checked DigiTV will automatically bring up the standard media player controls when playing back a recording or pausing a live transmission. A picture of the standard media player controls can be seen below:-

Play Movie Clip at Startup

When you start DigiTV for the very first time, it will play a short MPEG movie clip.

You can turn off this clip if you wish by deselecting this option.

Set PC Clock from TV

The time is broadcast along with each TV programme. Use this option to get DigiTV to set your computer's clock from this transmitted time. If this option is selected, the time will only be set when the DigiTV application is started and not again until it is restarted.

Show warning if hardware is not found

If this option is checked, DigiTV will warn you if it detects that there are no Nebula DigiTV devices attached to your machine. This prompt will also appear if you have installed the DigiTV software on a client PC and no DigiTV server communications are detected when the software is started.

Go To Systray after exit

When this option is checked DigiTV will automatically restart itself in the system tray when a user exits the main DigiTV window. As DigiTV must be running in order to carry out a timed recording, this option is very useful as it helps to avoid accidentally missing a recording due to DigiTV not running at the appropriate time.

When DigiTV is in the system tray it can be fully closed down by simply right clicking on the system tray icon and choosing 'Shutdown DigiTV'.

Low Speed CPU

If you have a PC that is below the minimum specification recommended for DigiTV, you can use this option to ease the load on the processor and give it the best chance possible of decoding the TV signals without dropping frames at the expense of a slight reduction in image quality. This option has no effect for HDTV programmes.

Mousewheel Action

Use this option to allow the wheel button on your mouse (if you have one) to control the desired function - Picture Zoom, Volume or Channel change.

DigiTV Application Priority

Using this setting you can set the system priority of DigiTV to run at 'Above Normal'. This means that if you have a very powerful machine and you are working as well as watching TV, DigiTV will receive CPU time preferentially instead of any other tasks. This will prevent undesirable effects such as audio or video dropout when the computer is heavily loaded.

Software Updates

DigiTV has the ability to check to see if there are any software/driver updates available automatically (or manually if you hit the Check Now button).

This means that you will now no longer have to navigate to our website, download the latest code and then reinstall it as it all happens completely without user intervention.

Please note that you will need an active internet connection for the AutoUpdate to work.
