The Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) Settings Tab
DigiTV v3.5 comes complete with support for an Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) for all of the major TV and Radio channels. For a
detailed description of the guide, please click here.
In the UK and several countries in Europe, the Electronic Programme Guide information is now transmitted by the broadcasters and therefore there is no need to be connected to the internet to receive this information in these countries. Instead you should leave your options set to 'Use Live Data' and 'Never auto-download EPG' as this will then ensure you receive the listings directly from the broadcast signal.
Now & Next Information
Because not all countries transmit reliable Now and Next information (either in content or time) this option has been included so that the user can decide where the
data for the Now & Next display should originate. If Use Live Data is selected then the data is sourced from the transmitted information, while selecting Use EPG Data
causes the information to come from the EPG list for the relevant channel.
EPG Source
Using this option you can specifiy which DigiTV EPG listings server should be used when attempting to download event information.
We no longer offer EPG listings for download, but several independently run servers have now started to appear around the world, offering EPG information to DigiTV users who are in countries which do not have over the air EPG broadcasts.
Please contact the location you bought our product from for further details about specific EPG listing servers available in your country.
Downloading
If you do not have EPG listings broadcast in your country, then you can choose to have DigiTV download the programme guide to your machine automatically, with your say-so, or never. This requires that you have a valid DigiTV EPG server URL listed in the 'EPG Source' option and thus please see the above note for more details.
If you choose Automatically the most recent guide is downloaded as soon as DigiTV starts up (only if its not already present on your machine).
Manually means that DigiTV will prompt you every time it wants to download a guide, and Never means that you will have to download the guide
using the Download Now button.
When downloading from this settings tab, you will see the current download status in the box on the right as each process starts.
In Automatic and Manual
modes, a similar box will appear at download time unless you uncheck the Show Status when Downloading box in this settings tab.
Selecting Download data for every day will ensure that your entire EPG cache is refreshed with the most up-to-date EPG information on each download. If however,
you wish to take less time downloading the EPG, you can deselect this option to make sure that only the days that have no current EPG data are downloaded.
Clear EPG Cache
This button will clear the contents of your EPG directory. It's not normally necessary to perform this operation, but if the EPG contains programme information
that is now out of date because of a change to the schedule it can be worth clearing the cache and then reloading the most up-to-date data.
