The Electronic Programme Guide

Setting a Timer

Setting a programme timer using the EPG is very easy. Usually all that is needed is to double-click the programme of interest in the Listings or Search boxes.

However, there may also be occasions when you need to input the details for your programme by hand, for example, if no over the air EPG is present for that particular channel.

Most of what is displayed on the right is fairly self-explanatory: You use the controls in the box to set up the programmes that you want to record. Each time you finish an entry, hit the New Timer button and DigiTV will show you the new entry.

You can choose to allow DigiTV to name the resulting files for you according to the name of the programme that is being recorded by making sure that the Use Automatic Naming box is checked. If you want to give the recording your own name you can do that too by unchecking this box and entering the desired name in the edit box above it.

Note that all of this is filled in automatically if you select a programme using the EPG, and there is no need to hit the New Timer button.

Multiple Occurrences

Some programmes (especially on Radio) are broadcast at the same time each day, so it would be a bit time consuming if you had to set an individual timer for each and every one.

DigiTV allows you to cover all occurrences of a programme by use of the Multiple Occurrences setting.

Using this feature, you can set to record that same programme on individual days of the week, at weekends or weekdays and it will only take a single timer slot.
Viewing the Recorder Timers

Having set a timer, you can view all of the timers that are currently active in the system by clicking the Timers tab in the top left of the dialog box. DigiTV allows up to 50 timers to be active at any one time:

To modify the details for an existing timer entry, highlight the entry so that the details are transferred to the individual timer detail boxes, change the parts you want to and then hit the Modify Timer button. You should now see the changes you've made reflected in the timer list.
