Linux While we are not able to bring out our own Linux drivers for the DigiTV card at present, we have made information available to the developers at LinuxTV.org so that they could construct a version. Florian Schirmer et al have very kindly built a first cut of the Linux drivers for DigiTV and have made them available from their site. If you would like instructions on how to set up a Linux 2.4 kernel for use with the DigiTV card, then they are provided here. Please note than Nebula Electronics cannot currently provide support DigiTV under Linux. Windows Messaging interface A list of messages that can be used to control various aspects of DigiTV is given here. This section may be useful if you're thinking of controlling your DigiTV application via a Girder remote control for example. Shared Memory interface If you would like your application to have access to data that DigiTV makes public, then you can see an example of how to perform this access here. You may find this useful to drive a display showing the current channel tuned for example. Windows Software SDK A number of software authors have contacted us asking if an API or SDK will be available for the DigiTV card in the foreseeable future. Responding to these requests, we've developed a DigiTV SDK for windows applications. The SDK is issued as source code in the form of a VC++ project, which means you will need Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 (or .NET), plus the latest Microsoft Platform SDK in order to compile it. Although there is no documentation attached to the SDK, the code has been laid out in a logical manner, and anyone familiar with VC++ should find it relatively easy to understand. The SDK software shows how to interface with either the DigiTV USB or PCI drivers, and gives the user the ability to measure signal quality parameters and dump the transport stream to disk. A key quality of this SDK is that it shows how to interface to multiple DigiTV USB devices and spawn multiple applications that attach uniquely to each device. Please note that this SDK is provided for information only, and no part of it may be used in a commercial application without the prior written consent of Nebula Electronics Ltd. If consent is required, please email sales@nebula-electronics.com. Please also note that this SDK is provided as-is and without warrenty or support of any kind. No fitness for use is implied or should be inferred. Download the zipped source code here (642KB). |
