About DigiTV Licences
|
Licensing is a new way to expand the functionality of your DigiTV application.
From time-to-time, developments will be made that will be of interest to a few users, but not to others. A good example is the Networking facility where the default capability of
being able to stream to up to three client machines will suffice for most applications. There are however, instances where it is desirable to stream to more clients - in a school or
college for example.
In order that people shouldn't have to pay for functions they will never use, we have split the more specialised facilities up into licensable units so that you only buy the bits you need.
There are currently 6 licences available split into three categories:
- Networking: up to 5 connected clients
- Networking: up to 10 connected clients
- Networking: up to 40 connected clients
- Networking: up to 100 connected clients
- Internet Protocol TV (IPTV): Allow unlimited use of the IPTV plugin (See IPTV licence explained for how it works)
- High Definition TV (HDTV): Allow unlimited use of the HDTV plugin (H.264 format)
- BDA Compatibility: Allows the DigiTV application to use third-party hardware DVB-t providing it has BDA drivers. This licence never expires.
Each of the first three categories also has an associated time limit after which it will expire. The default limit is 1 year after the licence is purchased, but this can be extended so that the licence will
never expire for a small additional charge.
When you purchase a licence via the licensing settings page within the DigiTV application, you will be immediately supplied with a key for the requested licences that will expire after 72 hours. This
gives us time to process your application (usually within 24 hours) and your full licence key will be emailed to you after processing is complete.
With the exception of the BDA Compatibility licence, the licence key that is issued to you will be linked to the Master DigiTV tuner that is plugged in at the time the purchase is made. It will not work with any different DigiTV units except Slave devices plugged into the same computer. This is a security
feature that prevents the sharing of licence keys, so please make sure that the relevant DigiTV Master tuner is present when you use the licensable functions.
For the BDA Compatibility licence, the licence key issued will be linked to the computer on which the DigiTV application software is installed.
All extra functionality plugins will allow use for a short time without a licence. Please make full use of this facility before you decide to purchase the relevant licence as refunds cannot be
made after a licence has been issued.
