Overview

DigiTV PCI is a high-performance, highly integrated Digital Television entertainment system for your PC.

DigiTV lets you watch all of the free-to-air Digital Terrestrial Television channels currently transmitted with no subscription to pay.

Measuring just 120mm x 64.5 mm (half-height and half-depth) it is especially suited for inclusion in many modern HTPC (Home Theatre PC) cases.

Compatible with all HDTV modes including 1080i and 576p
The DigiTV interface is designed to look and feel like a Set-Top-Box so that all options, menu items and information are displayed in video overlays scaled to the size of the viewing window. This means that you can watch Digital TV in full-screen mode at a distance with a remote control and not have to get up to use the keyboard or read programme descriptions. It also means that the on-screen menus are simplicity itself to navigate. There is even an option to shut-down your PC using the remote.

With the DigiTV package, you get an Integrated Digital Video Recorder that lets you record programmes using either a timer, or simply by clicking the programme in the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG). All video recordings are made to a user-selectable directory on your hard disk, and are categorised by programme name. The recordings are made in MPEG II format so that you can play them back at the same quality as the original. If you want to record all programmes on a channel, just hit the 'Record' button and DigiTV will split each of the recorded programmes into its own file.

Remote Connection

Just because you're away on holiday, it doesn't mean that you can't set your DigiTV to record shows that you've forgotten about. With a web browser (and an internet connection), you can connect in to DigiTV and find out what's going on back home.

Networked TV!

Imagine being able to watch your favourite programme in bed on your laptop. With DigiTV you can. DigiTV allows you to stream a live TV programme over your local area network (LAN) and if you have a wireless connection (802.11g), you'll have Digital TV anywhere you like!

Parental Control

Why not let your children use DigiTV as a TV on their own computer? With the password-protected parental control facility, you can lock out any channel that you don't want them to watch. They won't even be able to read the descriptions for those channels. DigiTV can also automatically stop them from viewing any programmes outside the hours that you specifiy.

Analogue video input

Just because DigiTV is a digital system, we've not neglected the analog side. We recognise that there is still a need for analog video and audio capture (from a webcam, or video camera say) and so we've included inputs to provide this facility.

  •   System Requirements

    • Windows Operating System (2000/XP/MCE)
    • Pentium III or AMD CPU running at 800MHz or higher * (2.8GHz P4 for HDTV where transmitted)
    • 64MB or more of RAM
    • 20MB or more of free hard disk space
    • Graphics card (or onboard graphics) preferably PCI-express or AGP, capable of supporting 800x600 minimum resolution at 16-bit colour and hardware overlays
    • Sound card (or onboard sound) and speaker combination.
    • A system PSU that has enough spare capacity to cater for all existing devices, plus the DigiTV unit (2.5W). A 400W PSU is recommended for most modern systems.
    • DirectX 7 or greater.

    • * The VIA EPIA 12000 is powerful enough for all channels without dropped frames when running DigiTV in low-speed cpu mode.

We recommend a 1GHz PC for operation for viewing Standard Definition television (UK & Europe), but a 2.8GHz PC is the minimum requirement for smooth MPEG2 High Definition TV (HTDV) eg in Australia.

  •   Restrictions

    • Windows 98se and Windows ME Operating systems are not supported.
    • The Asus A7V880 (Via Chipset) motherboard will not allow installation of our (or any other Fusion 878a-based) drivers. This motherboard is commonly found on HP Pavilion machines. Using a DigiTV USB version will circumvent this problem.
  •   What's in the Box?

    • DigiTV PCI Master Tuner card.
    • DigiTV Custom Remote Control.
    • 2 x AA Batteries.
    • Infra-red receiver on a flying lead.
    • CD with latest software version.
    • Installation sheet.
You'll also need a TV antenna connection on a flying lead to connect to the back of the card. Your existing TV aerial may be good enough, but it really depends on whereabouts you are relative to your nearest transmitter.

Unless you can see your local TV transmitter from your window, then please do NOT use an internal portable aerial. In almost all cases, they are inadequate to provide a good digital TV signal.

The DigiTV card includes an amplified TV antenna output so that you can insert the card into the antenna line with no loss of signal.
