DigiTV TopUp TV Support

If you've re-tuned your DigiTV in the UK recently, you'll have noticed that a host of new channels have appeared. These are the new encrypted channels from a company called TopUp TV.

Each of these channels is being broadcast in an encrypted format so you need a TopUpTV smartcard card in order to view them. The only devices that were capable of decoding these new channels were the old ITV/On-Digital boxes (those that are still around anyway), but now there is a means that allows you to plug your TopUpTV smartcard into your PC and watch with DigiTV.

Development for TopUpTV support will come in two stages:

Phase 1 (Complete) - Software support for the SECA 2 system

You can now use the DigiTV software and hardware in conjunction with a standard Phoenix interface smartcard reader (NOT a programmer) and a valid TopUp TV smartcard.

The Phoenix smartcard readers currently retail for between £20 and £30 in the UK.

Phase 2 - Nebula smartcard reader hardware.

This phase will see the introduction of Nebula's own smartcard reader. It will be housed in a case that is complementary to the current DigiTV units, and is priced at £24.99 including VAT.

DigiTV software that supports the SECA 2 TopUpTV system is now available for download from our site.
